IS metronizadol and mikonazol-nitrat vaginal tablet given for BV?
I have been diagnosed candida and bacteria in my vaginal discharge. My doc gave me Kilon -D 100, vaginal tablets (which includes metronizadol and mikonazol-nitrat).
I would like to know if this medicine is also used fro treating BV?
I would appreciate opinions of helth care workers. Thanks.

Metronidazole is an antibiotic effective against bacteria that are single-celled, living organisms that thrive in environments in which there is little oxygen, anaerobic bacteria and certain parasites such as the vagina. Miconazole is an anti-fungal medication, it is used either on the skin or in the vagina for fungal infections. So the miconazole will take care of the candida fungal infection while the metro will kill the bacteria. As for BV which is bacterial vaginosis, the metronidazole is commonly used to treat the bacterial infection. But since you have a fungal infection present the miconazole is necessary. Make sure you finish your course completely although symptoms may get better sooner. You don’t want this infection to reoccur.
